Why oh Why?

Why do we need another blog?…

….Why not? I was listening to the Packet Pushers Datanauts Podcast Episode 61, titled Trials & Tribulations Of Technical Blogging on a flight back from some work with a customer, thinking about the work that I’d been doing over the last few weeks. Off the top of the top of my head I could think of a few topics for posts. So here we are…

The content on this blog will mostly be about things that I’m working on, some technical demos and things that I think are relevant in the industry. It’s a very busy time for the industry at the moment, new technologies, vendors and products are appearing constantly. At my $dayjob I’m slowly seeing a change in the mindset of the people I talk to – traditional enterprises are open to new solutions (Cloud, SDN, SD-WAN etc), which means I need to know they are bringing to the table.

Please feel free to comment or provide feedback – I’m not too precious, so be honest!

underlay.io – the underlay network is the foundation. It provides the underlying physical transport, as a fabric, for the overlay to consume. The industry is adopting overlay networking models, where intelligence resides in the overlay. Importantly, the overlay is decoupled from the underlay, adding a layer of abstraction. This model will allow for innovative solutions in the overlay – but you’ve got to remember…

“the loftier the building, the deeper must the foundations be laid”

and .io because it’s cool 🙂
